This is going to be a short article about where I’m standing right now in the process of translating my novel. I feel like I need to share this with you because many of you are in some type of process or on some journey which might be difficult or you feel lost. I hope my positive attitude will touch you and encourage you to keep going with your head up.

If you follow my work for some time than you know that I’m translating my fantasy novel from Bosnian to English. I split that process in few stages and the first one is to roughly translate the whole first part of the manuscript. In the second stage I’ll get through the novel and correct the mistakes as best as I can. In the third stage the professional is going look at my work and after that I have to find beta readers. As you can see it’s a long process, but the longest stage is the first one and it’s almost done.

Even though the process is exciting and interesting, I feel a bit tired. Luckily, if I continue with current pace, I’ll finish the rough translation in about two weeks. Almost two months are behind me and that time passed so fast. I remember thinking how this is going to take forever, but this first stage is going pretty well and I improved along the way which helped me to work faster.

Interesting thing about translation is that I found some small mistakes in my original manuscript. Those are tiny details which probably wouldn’t be noticed my many readers, but they have to be corrected.

I hope I won’t have much trouble finding beta readers. I’ve had a couple of them with some of my other novels in Bosnian, but this time I’ll be looking for English readers. However, all this is exciting, this whole journey. Sure, you could say there’s a lot of uncertainty ahead of me, but I see the possibility there. A lot of good things can happen and I try to keep that in my focus. Translation is not an easy job and it takes a lot of time, but at least it’ll teach me to be even more patient.

I’ve already met some great people on social media who would like to read my work and that gives me more strength and willpower to keep going. That’s what I love with writing. No matter how good you are, you can’t finish everything in one day. You need some time and that helps you to grow as a person and develop a patience and faith.

I want to remind you, if you are writing or you are in some other process, that there’s no point in thinking how everything is going to be one great failure. For me right now it’s an amazing thing to connect with people who share the same passion as me. I’m learning English in a completely new way and if nothing, I’ll be better communicator. But I know there will be a lot more. You learn from everything you do. Maybe not in a small picture, but after the time passes and you look back, you’ll see that everything makes sense in a bigger picture. I’m optimistic about my writing journey and I hope I’ll be able send you the positive energy and inspiration so you can keep working on your goals and dreams as well.

I would like to communicate with you, no matter if your write or not. You’re on a journey and I would like to hear about it. Write me in the comments.
